Rhododendron Youth Ambassador Program

The Greater Eureka Chamber Rhododendron Youth Ambassador Program is a scholarship competition pairing high school juniors with community minded business sponsors. The program objectives are to inspire a commitment to community service, introduce students to the local business community and to provide scholarships to college-bound students.

The Eureka Chamber and co-sponsor, the Humboldt County Office of Education, coordinate and administer the Rhododendron Youth Ambassador Scholarship Program, awarding over $5,000 in scholarships annually.

Each year up to twenty-five high school juniors are selected from among those recommended by area high school counselors. Participating Chamber member businesses sponsor these Youth Ambassadors. While scholastic achievement is an important consideration, other qualifications are also taken into account such as community involvement, leadership, unique accomplishments, personal goals and aspirations and the ability to overcome barriers or obstacles.

The program kicks off in February with a series of fun and educational events and culminates with an impromptu public speaking competition on the Final Night in May.
